Paul Henderson’s four goal game came on October 27, 1966 when he factored into all five Red Wings goals at Detroit Olympia in a 5-4 win over the New York Rangers. Henderson assisted on Detroit’s first goal, scored by Norm Ullman on Ed Giacomin. Paul then scored then next four goals for the Wings.
In 1971-72, 12 of Henderson’s team leading 38 goals were scored with the man advantage. Norm Ullman was the next closest with nine power play markers. Paul’s five game winning goals tied Dave Keon for second, two behind leader Ron Ellis. Henderson also had a single shorthanded goal on the season. The 38 goals would remain as a career high.
Between 1962-63 and 1979-80, Paul Henderson played 707 regular season and 56 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Atlanta Flames. He also played 360 regular season and five playoff games in the WHA between 1974-75 and 1978-79 with the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls.
