Details

By the end of 1981-82, Pat Hickey would be neither with the Toronto Maple Leafs or New York Rangers. On December 30, 1981, he was shipped to the Quebec Nordiques with Jere Gillis for Robbie Ftorek. It was his second three-team season of his NHL career. In 1979-80, Hickey played for the Rangers, Maple Leafs and Colorado Rockies.

Pat played three years of junior hockey with the Hamilton Red Wings from 1970-71 to 1972-73. The club has relocated several times since and is now the current day Erie Otters. At the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft, the Rangers took him in the second round, 30th overall. However, Hickey was also selected in the second round of the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft by the Toronto Toros and he initially took that route.

After two seasons with the Toros, Pat made his way to the Big Apple to start his NHL career. Between 1975-76 and 1984-85, Hickey appeared in 644 regular season and 55 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Rangers, Rockies, Maple Leafs, Nordiques and St. Louis Blues.

His best season came in 1977-78 when he led the Rangers with 40 goals. His 73 points that year were second behind team leader Phil Esposito. The goal total tied him for tenth in the NHL with Jean Pronovost of the Pittsburgh Penguins, one goal behind a three way log jam that included Gilbert Perreault, Bill Barber and Peter McNab.
