Only 19 when he broke in with Wings three years ago, Norm enjoyed best campaign last year, despite constant shifting of lines. Good playmaker and gifted with hockey sense, he has played the part of a steadying influence even as a youngster.

ERROR! On the back of the card, it has Norm Ullman’s hometown as Provost, Saskatchewan. He was born in Provost but the town is in Alberta.

His 24 goals in 1959-60 were a slight improvement over the year before and placed him tied for tenth in the NHL with Bob Pulford and Jean Guy Gendron. Ullman was an incredibly consistent goal scorer with 17 consecutive seasons with at least 20 goals.

Norm had five seasons where he topped the 30 goal plateau. His career best came in 1964-65 when he scored 42 goals for the Detroit Red Wings. That mark placed him first overall in the National Hockey League, three better than Bobby Hull of the Chicago Blackhawks. Unfortunately, no award for goal scoring would exist for a few more decades. His 83 points that year placed him second in the race for the Art Ross Trophy, four behind Stan Mikita.

Over his amazing NHL career, Ullman appeared in 1,410 regular season and 106 playoff games between 1955-56 and 1974-75 with the Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. He scored 490 goals and totaled 1,229 points. His career ended with two seasons in the WHA, 1975-76 and 1976-77, with the Edmonton Oilers.
