Details
In 1953-54, Lorne more than just even bettered his numbers from the previous season. Over 70 games with the Hershey Bears in the AHL, he scored 45 goals and 42 for 87 points. He led the league in goal-scoring with a three goal edge over Gaye Stewart. In overall scoring, he was sixth with Hershey linemate Red Sullivan leading the league.
He followed that up with his only 20 goal season in the NHL, scoring exactly 20 for the Boston Bruins in 1954-55. Midway through the following season, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings with Murray Costello for Jerry Toppazzini and Real Chevrefils.
Between 1949-50 and 1958-59, Lorne Ferguson played 422 regular season and 31 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. He reached the Stanley Cup final in 1955-56 with Detroit before losing to the Montreal Canadiens.
