Ken Wharram would bounce back in 1963-64 to play the full 70 game schedule for the Chicago Blackhawks. He would also have a career year offensively with 39 goals and 71 points. He tied teammate Stan Mikita for second in the NHL for goal scoring, both four behind leader and teammate Bobby Hull. Mikita captured the Art Ross Trophy with Wharram finishing sixth, two points behind Gordie Howe.
His 20 goals in 1962-63 began a string of seven seasons reaching that plateau, ending in 1968-69, his final season in the NHL. On three of those occasions, including his final campaign, Wharram reached the 30 goal mark.
Between 1951-52 and 1968-69, Kenny Wharram played in 766 regular season and 80 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Chicago Blackhawks. He was forced to retire prior to the 1969-70 NHL season after being diagnosed with Myocarditis. He had 8 points in 12 playoff games in 1960-61 to help the Hawks to a Stanley Cup championship. His third of three goals in that post season was the final goal of the Cup clinching game 6 against the Detroit Red Wings.
