The 62 assists that Ken Hodge contributed in 1970-71 now stands as the 43rd most by a NHL right winger, tied with Mitch Marner, Mike Bossy and Sergei Makarov. His 105 points that season now rank him 50th among right wingers. The current holder of the record is Jaromir Jagr.
In 1973-74, Hodge would equal his career best with another 105 point season. He also reached the 50 goal plateau for the first and only time in his NHL career. This offensive prowess was first seen in major junior when he led the league in 1964-65 with 123 points and 63 goals with the St. Catharines Blackhawks, earning the Eddie Powers Trophy.
Ken played two full seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks but scored just a total of 16 goals over that time. After the May 15, 1967 trade sent him, along with Phil Esposito and Fred Stanfield to the Bruins for Gilles Marotte, Pit Martin and Jack Norris, his career made a major shift.
For ten years from 1967-68 to 1976-77, Hodge only missed reaching the 20 goal plateau once – in the injury shortened 1971-72 season. Along with his 50 goal campaign, Ken also topped 40 goals twice.
Between 1964-65 and 1977-78, Ken Hodge appeared in 880 regular season and 97 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Blackhawks, Bruins and New York Rangers. He was a First Team All-Star twice and helped the Bruins to two Stanley Cup championships.
