This veteran NHLer played twelve years with the Canadiens, during which time they won seven Stanley Cups including five straight. During expansion draft in 1967, Jean Guy played for three different teams, but settled in St. Louis where his poise and experience has had a tremendous effect on the Blues defense.

I wouldn’t call it an error in the info snippet on the back of this 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee hockey card, just awkward wording. Jean Guy Talbot was selected by just one team at the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft, the Minnesota North Stars. He was taken from the Montreal Canadiens in the sixth round, 32nd overall.
However, his time in Minnesota was quite short. He played four games with the North Stars to start the 1967-68 NHL season before an October 19, 1967 trade sent him and Dave Richardson to the Detroit Red Wings for Duke Harris and Bob McCord. He played 32 games with the Wings before ending up in St. Louis to finish out the campaign. Good thing for Jean-Guy, he played 17 games in the playoffs and helped the Blues reach the final before falling to his former club, the Montreal Canadiens.
Talbot went to the final with the Blues in three consecutive seasons, losing twice to Montreal and once to Boston. 1970-71 would be his final season in the NHL. He started with St. Louis but after just five games, was traded to the Buffalo Sabres with Larry Keenan for Bob Baun. He finished out the year playing 57 games for the Sabres in their inaugural NHL season before retiring as a player.
Between 1954-55 and 1970-71, Jean Guy Talbot played 1,056 regular season and 156 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens, North Stars, Red Wings, Blues and Sabres. He was a seven time Stanley Cup champion with the Habs.
