Card Notes

1962-63 would turn out to be the last season Jacques Plante would play for the Montreal Canadiens. On June 4, 1963, he was shipped to the New York Rangers along with Phil Goyette and Don Marshall. Going to the Habs were Gump Worsley, Dave Balon, Leon Rochefort and Len Ronson.

Plante had a decent year in 1962-63, playing 56 games for Montreal and posting a 2.49 goals against average with five shutouts. The only team that Jacques and the Canadiens didn’t shutout was the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was the Buds that ousted the Habs in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Between 1952-53 and 1972-73, Jacques Plante appeared in 837 regular season and 112 Stanley Cup playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens, Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1978.
