Details

Jacques Lemaire was third on the Montreal Canadiens in 1974-75 for overall scoring. Guy Lafleur led with 119 points while Pete Mahovlich was two points behind with 117. When it came to goal scoring, Lemaire was second behind Lafleur’s 53, a single goal ahead of Mahovlich. As far as game winning goals in 1974-75, Lemaire was second on the Habs with eight while Lafleur led the team with eleven.

1975-76 was a shortened season for Jacques, appearing in just 61 regular season games. He still reached the 20 goal plateau, though, with exactly 20. He returned to action for the post season, playing all 13 games for the Habs with the team capturing their first of four consecutive Stanley Cup championships.

Five of those 20 goals came in a season opening hot streak that saw Lemaire score in the first four games of the campaign. In the season opener, a 9-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings at the Montreal Forum, Jacques scored a pair while firing six shots on Rogie Vachon. Rogie was pounded with 48 shots with Bob Gainey, Guy Lafleur and Jim Roberts also scoring two goals each for the Habs.

Between 1967-68 and 1978-79, Jacques Lemaire appeared in 853 regular season and 145 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Montreal Canadiens. The eight time Stanley Cup champion as a player was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984. He was a two time Jack Adams Award winner as a head coach, once with the New Jersey Devils and once with the Minnesota Wild.
