Guy Lafleur’s six consecutive seasons with 50 goals broke the previous record of five set by Phil Esposito. Since, Mike Bossy set the current record with nine straight while Wayne Gretzky had eight straight. Lafleur still sits third for this category.

1983-84 would be the last full season Lafleur would play for the Montreal Canadiens before his first retirement. His numbers were decent, scoring 30 goals and assisting on 40 while playing in all 80 games for the Habs.

He had two 4-point games in that 1983-84 NHL season. The first was a goal and three assists in a 7-7 tie with the Hartford Whalers. The second was during a 7-6 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. In that one, he recorded the second last hat trick of his career and his last as a member of the Canadiens.

Between 1971-72 and 1990-91, Guy Lafleur played 1,126 regular season and 128 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques. The five time Stanley Cup champion won the Art Ross Trophy three times and the Hart Trophy twice. Lafleur was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
