1975-76 O-Pee-Chee NHL Checklist
Card Notes
Montreal’s top scorer last season and the fourth high scorer in the NHL. Twice scored more than 100 goals as an amateur.
Details
In 1974-75, Bobby Orr led the National Hockey League with 135 points, earning the Art Ross Trophy. Between Orr and Lafleur were Phil Esposito of the Boston Bruins with 127 points and Marcel Dionne of the Detroit Red Wings with 121.
Guy did score more than 100 goals in two consecutive seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. In 1969-70, he had 103 in 56 games. The following year, Lafleur netted an amazing 130 goals in just 62 games. Surprisingly, that mark is not the league record. Mario Lemieux scored 133 goals in 1983-84 with the Laval Voisins.
Error
This hockey card has a very obvious uncorrected error. On the front of this 1975-76 O-Pee-Chee Guy Lafleur card, it states that Guy plays defense. On the back of the card, his position is correct as ‘centre’.
