1977-78 O-Pee-Chee NHL Checklist
Card Notes
“Gained first NHL All-Star Game selection for classic at Philadelphia in January of 1976.”
This would be the only All-Star selection for Gregg Sheppard over his National Hockey League career. In that game, held at the Spectrum, the Wales Conference beat the Campbell Conference by a score of 7-5. Peter Mahovlich of the Montreal Canadiens was named MVP with a four point performance on a goal and three assists.
“Gregg is known as the Bruins’ ‘Indispensable Man’.”
Maybe he was at the time. However, 1977-78 would be his last year in Boston, making him, I guess, pretty dispensable. Sheppard would join the Pittsburgh Penguins for the 1978-79 season. He played four years with the Pens before calling it a career.
