Details
As for the trivia question, Elmer Vasko was a Second Team All-Star defenseman in both 1962-63 and 1963-64.
In 1963-64, Vasko was third in voting for the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman behind winner and teammate Pierre Pilote and Toronto’s Tim Horton. Not an offensive powerhouse from the blue line, Moose had a pair of goals and 18 assists for 20 points playing in all 70 games for the Blackhawks.
Three of those 20 points came in a single game against the Montreal Canadiens on October 20, 1963, a 5-3 win at Chicago Stadium. He assisted on goals by Bill Hay, Pierre Pilote and Ron Murphy with the Pilote goal holding as the game winner.
Vasko played in 786 regular season National Hockey League games between 1956-57 and 1969-70 with the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota North Stars. His 78 playoff games were quite impressive, winning a Stanley Cup championship with Chicago in 1960-61 and reaching the final in 1961-62 and 1964-65.
