1962-63 and 1963-64 would be the pinnacle of Elmer Vasko’s National Hockey League career. In both campaigns, he was named a Second Team All-Star on defense with teammate Pierre Pilote selected First Team.

In both those seasons, Moose was in the running for the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman. In 1962-63, he placed fourth in voting behind Pilote, Carl Brewer and Tim Horton. The following year, he moved up to third behind Pilote and Horton.

Between 1956-57 and 1969-70, Vasko played 786 regular season and 78 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota North Stars. He helped the Hawks win the Stanley Cup championship in 1960-61. Moose was the 74th player picked in the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft, going to the North Stars.
