When Dunc was the property of the Philadelphia Flyers, he couldn’t break into the NHL since the Flyers also owned Bernie Parent and Doug Favell. Instead, he got two years of AHL experience at Quebec, leading the Aces into the playoffs both seasons. Dunc was originally owned by the Boston Bruins.

1972-73 would be Dunc Wilson’s last year between the pipes for the Vancouver Canucks. By the start of 1973-74, he was wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. In the 1971-72 NHL season noted on the back of this hockey card, Wilson recorded a single shutout. It was the first blank in Canucks franchise history after the team didn’t record one in their inaugural campaign the season before.

On October 27, 1971, Vancouver was in Toronto for a road game at Maple Leaf Gardens. Bernie Parent was in net for the Leafs and faced just 20 shots from the Canucks. Dunc was a little busier, turning away all 34 shots put on him. The game ended in a 0-0 tie with both tenders getting credited with a shutout.

His greatest playoff success with the Quebec Aces came in 1968-69. He appeared in all 15 games for the club as the reached the Calder Cup final before bowing out to the Hershey Bears in five games. It was a great performance by the Aces considering the Vic Stasiuk coached team finished the regular season eight games below .500.

Between 1969-70 and 1978-79, Dunc Wilson appeared in 287 regular season games in the National Hockey League. He did not make it into a game during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Along with the Canucks, Wilson played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

His time with Philadelphia was limited to a single game during the 1969-70 season. He returned to Vancouver to end his NHL career in 1978-79. His most successful season came in 1976-77 when he recorded a 2.95 goals against average and five shutouts over 45 games with the Penguins.
