Trivia: Blanchissages en une saison 6 – Cesare Maniago (1967-68)
Details
First, the trivia snippet. Cesare Maniago set the Minnesota North Stars record of six shutouts in their first year of existence, 1967-68. The record stood for the existence of the franchise in Minnesota. After the team was moved to Dallas, the record was upped to 9, a record shared by Ed Belfour (1997-98) and Marty Turco (2003-04). For Maniago, it remained a career best.
After his career high 55 goals and 106 points in 1981-82, Ciccarelli’s numbers dropped off drastically in 1982-83, scoring 37 and totaling 75 points. A career 608 goal scorer, Dino would surpass the 50 goal plateau just one more time in his career with 52 in 1986-87 with the North Stars.
In that 1981-82 NHL season, Ciccarelli had three hat tricks that contributed to his 55 markers, one each against the St. Louis Blues, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens. He added a hat trick in the post season, scoring his only three goals of the playoffs in a game three 7-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in the Norris Division semi-final. He added an assist on a Bobby Smith goal for a four point game.
Between 1980-81 and 1998-99, Dino Ciccarelli played 1,232 regular season and 141 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the North Stars, Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers. His 608 goals rank him 19th all-time, just two less than Bobby Hull. Dino was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.
