Dennis is one of the smoothest defensemen in the NHL. He makes picture plays with soft passes, and usually gets plenty of assists. He clears the puck very well.

1976-77 turned out to be a career year for Dennis Kearns. His 55 assists were his NHL career high and put him in a log jam for tenth spot in the NHL with Butch Goring, Brad Park and Denis Potvin. The group was just one assist behind Gilbert Perreault and two behind Ian Turnbull. The leader that year was Guy Lafleur of the Montreal Canadiens with 80 helpers.
Kearns never played major junior but his made his mark with the Portland Buckaroos in the WHL. Between 1967-68 and 1969-70, he helped the team reach the final each season but in each campaign, they were denied a championship.
Originally property of the Chicago Blackhawks, Dennis played his entire National Hockey League career with the Vancouver Canucks. Between 1971-72 and 1980-81, he appeared in 677 regular season games in the NHL but just eleven games in the Stanley Cup playoffs, never winning a series.
