Details

1970-71 was the “Hull Brothers Show” with the Chicago Blackhawks. Bobby led the team with 44 goals while Dennis put up a career high 40. Although far below Phil Esposito and his record setting 76 markers, Bobby finished third in goal-scoring and Dennis was fifth, two goals ahead of both Dave Keon and Gilbert Perreault.

The Hawks finished first in the West Division with a hefty 20 point lead over the second place St. Louis Blues. Chicago reached the Stanley Cup final before losing a tight seven game series to the Montreal Canadiens.

Two years later, with Bobby gone to the WHA, Dennis put up a career year. He had career highs of 51 assists and 90 points but it was in the playoffs when he truly turned on the jets. Over 16 post season games, he led the team with 24 points on nine goals and 15 assists. After again finishing first in the West, Chicago once more reached the Stanley Cup final in 1972-73, again losing out to the Montreal Canadiens, this time in six games.

Between 1964-65 and 1977-78, Dennis Hull played in 959 regular season and 104 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. He played four games for Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union and was a Second Team All-Star in 1972-73.
