Details

There is a mess of typos and ERRORS on the back of this 1967-68 Topps Dave Dryden hockey card. First, he played eleven games for Chicago in 1965-66, not eight. However, he was only credited with eight decisions, three wins, four losses and a tie. Those eleven games, along with a single match with the New York Rangers in emergency relief while still a junior in 1961-62 are not shown in his career stats. Also, Denis DeJordy has his name spelled incorrectly in the French info snippet with two n’s instead of one.

In 1967-68, Dryden backed up DeJordy well, playing in 27 games for the Blackhawks, recording a 3.26 goals against average with one shutout. The shutout, the first of his NHL career, occurred on February 21, 1968 on the road against the Oakland Seals. He turned away all 17 shots in a 1-0 win with Bobby Hull‘s 41st goal of the season the only marker of the game. Charlie Hodge was a bit busier at the other end of the ice, turning away 28 of 29 shots for the Seals.

Between 1961-62 and 1979-80, Dave Dryden appeared in 203 regular season and three playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Rangers, Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres and Edmonton Oilers. From 1974-75 to 1978-79, he played 242 regular season and 18 playoff games in the WHA with the Chicago Cougars and Edmonton Oilers.
