Details

The numbers would go in the wrong direction for Dan Bouchard in 1976-77. He posted a 3.51 goals against average and .877 save percentage over 42 games for the Atlanta Flames. That was up from 2.54 and .911 the year before. His shutout count was also the lowest of his career until that point with just a single blank.

That one shutout didn’t involve a whole lot of effort. On December 4, 1976 at the St. Louis Arena, he had to make just 17 saves in a 1-0 win over the Blues. St. Louis goalie Ed Johnston wasn’t overly busy either, allowing just a single goal on 21 shots. The lone goal was scored shorthanded by Curt Bennett in the first period with Bill Flett off for holding.

He twice faced more than 40 shots in a game in 1976-77 with one win and one loss. In the win, he stopped 41 of 46 shots at the Aud in Buffalo as the Flames beat the Sabres 6-5. The Buffalo goaltending duo of Bob Sauve and Al Smith allowed the six goals on a just a combined 16 shots. Curt Bennett and Bill Flett led Atlanta with two goals each.

Between 1972-73 and 1985-86, Dan Bouchard played 655 regular season and 43 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Quebec Nordiques and Winnipeg Jets. Bouchard recorded 27 shutouts over his NHL career.
