Son of Lynn Patrick of the famous hockey family, Craig is one of several players who joined the NHL after serving with the U.S. National Team. Seals hope the experience gained in his first NHL season, 1971-72, will lead him to an improved performance this season. One of 20 U.S. born players in pro hockey in 1971-72.

Craig Patrick had a career year in 1972-73 with 20 goals and 22 assists for 42 points with the Golden Seals. His best game came on December 22, 1972 when he helped the Seals to just their fifth win in 32 games. Patrick scored two goals and assisted on Joey Johnston’s game winner in a 4-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

His next best season came with the Kansas City Scouts in 1975-76 when he scored 17. That year, he played an important role in a major upset by the Scouts over the Canadiens at the Montreal Forum. On December 3, 1975, Patrick scored an unassisted goal on Michel Larocque while also assisting on goals by Robin Burns and Wilf Paiement. Paiement had a hat trick in the game, including the game winner.

Between 1971-72 and 1978-79, Craig Patrick played 401 regular season and two playoff games in the National Hockey League with the California Golden Seals, St. Louis Blues, Kansas City Scouts and Washington Capitals. He also played 30 games in the WHA with the Minnesota Fighting Saints in 1976-77. Patrick was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001 as a builder.
