Details

1957-58 marked the return of Camille Henry as a full-time NHL hockey player. In 1953-54, he burst onto the scene with the New York Rangers, scoring 24 goals over 66 games in his rookie season. After being awarded the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year, he spent much of the next three seasons in the AHL.

This demotion allowed Henry to join an exclusive group of players to win both the Calder Trophy in the NHL and the Calder Cup in the AHL (more details here). With the Providence Reds in 1955-56, Camille the Eel was nothing short of outstanding. He scored 50 goals in just 59 regular season games and added ten more in just nine playoff games. His offense and goaltending from Johnny Bower helped the Reds capture the championship.

In 57-58, Henry surpassed the 30 goal plateau for the first of two times during his NHL career. His 32 led the Rangers and placed him tied for third in the NHL with Ed Litzenberger, four behind Dickie Moore and just one behind Gordie Howe. This earned him his only All-Star selection.

Between 1953-54 and 1969-70, Camille Henry played 727 regular season and 47 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. He never won a Stanley Cup but did reach the final with the 1964-65 Blackhawks and 1968-69 Blues.
