Details

1963-64 would see Bobby Hull back at the top of the NHL’s goal scoring list after a bit of a lull in 1962-63. His 43 goals were four more than second place Stan Mikita. However, teammate Mikita took the Art Ross Trophy with a two point edge over the Golden Jet.

By 1965-66, Bobby no longer had to share the NHL goal scoring record. His 54 goals that year set a new mark. Three years later, he bested the mark again with 58. Shortly after, though, Phil Esposito shattered the mark with 76 and that was followed by Wayne Gretzky‘s 92 goal performance in 1981-82 with the Edmonton Oilers.

Interestingly, despite all the goals (610 in 1,063 regular season NHL games), Bobby Hull could never join the elite group of players with five or more in a game. He did have four 4-goal games over his career.

Between 1957-58 and 1979-80, Hull appeared in 1,063 regular season and 119 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets and Hartford Whalers. In between, he played 411 regular season and 60 playoff games in the WHA between 1972-73 and 1978-79, all with the Winnipeg Jets. Bobby was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.
