Bob Nevin was traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the New York Rangers on February 22, 1964 with Arnie Brown, Bill Collins, Dick Duff and Rod Seiling for Andy Bathgate and Don McKenney. This resulted in him missing out on a third consecutive Stanley Cup championship with the Leafs.

In 1960-61, Nevin had a breakout rookie season with the Buds, scoring 21 goals and assisting on 37 for 58 points. He placed second in voting for the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year, behind just teammate Dave Keon. His numbers dwindled with the Maple Leafs after this but got back on track with the Rangers.

With New York, Nevin had five 20 goal seasons, including his career best 31 in 1968-69, a total he equaled with the Los Angeles Kings in 1974-75 with the benefit of nine more games. In 1970-71, he put up 21 but it was the end of the line in the Big Apple. Over the off-season, he was shipped to the Minnesota North Stars.

Between 1957-58 and 1975-76, Bob Nevin played 1,128 regular season and 84 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Maple Leafs, Rangers, North Stars and Kings. He also appeared in 13 WHA games with the Edmonton Oilers in 1976-77 before calling it a career.
