Bob Nevin would not see regular action in the National Hockey League until the 1960-61 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played just two games with the Buds in 1959-60 while spending the rest of his time in the AHL with the Rochester Americans. With the Amerks, Nevin’s 32 goals placed him seventh in the league while he was tenth overall with 74 points. Bob helped Rochester reach the Calder Cup final before bowing out to the Springfield Indians.

His true rookie campaign in the NHL, 1960-61, was outstanding. Bob scored 21 and assisted on 37 for 58 points for the Maple Leafs. He was second to teammate Dave Keon in voting for the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year.

Over his career, Nevin topped the 20 goal plateau eight times. He reached a career high 31 goals on two occasions. The first was with the New York Rangers in 1968-69 and the second was with the Los Angeles Kings in 1974-75.

Between 1957-58 and 1975-76, Bob Nevin appeared in 1,128 regular season and 84 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and Los Angeles Kings.
