Card Notes

Bald and burly Bob is better known for his solid reliable job he does in front of a goalie than for his offensive achievements. He’s a tough man to swing around. Never scored more than two goals a year.

En Français

Il est un joueur banal à l’offensive, mais il est tres efficace à la ligne bleue. Il n’a jamais compté plus de deux buts au cours d’une saison.

Details

Bob Armstrong showed off his “offensive side” in 1959-60 with a career high five goals for the Boston Bruins. He would score just two more over the rest of his NHL career for a total of 13 goals in 542 regular season games.

Armstrong went to the Stanley Cup final twice with the Bruins and in 1957-58, after being sent down by Boston to the AHL, he went to the Calder Cup final with the Springfield Indians. His only pro hockey championship came in 1961-62 when he was player / head coach with the Hull-Ottawa Canadiens of the EPHL.

Between 1950-51 and 1961-62, Bob Armstrong appeared in 542 regular season and 42 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Boston Bruins. Boston traded him to the Montreal Canadiens nine games into the 1961-62 season but never got into the Habs lineup.
