Card Notes
“Andy” is just a little guy, but he can fly. The helmeted center is quite durable and he seldom misses a game. Was top scoring rookie in first year of expansion, 1966-67. Has played for four NHL teams, and the Blues are his fifth.
Details
First off, ERROR – the first year of expansion was 1967-68, not 1966-67. And, it was in 1967-68 that Andre Boudrias led NHL rookie scorers with 53 points as a member of the Minnesota North Stars. However, he was left off the balloting for the Calder Trophy, not even placing in the top 5. Derek Sanderson of the Boston Bruins won the award. In the running were Jacques Lemaire, Doug Favell, Bill Flett and Les Binkley.
Secondly, ERROR – The St. Louis Blues were Andre’s fourth NHL team. He came up through the Montreal Canadiens system and saw very limited time in the National Hockey League, appearing in seven games with the Montreal Canadiens over three years from 1963-64 to 1966-67.
He was traded to the North Stars prior to their inaugural 1967-68 NHL season. Boudrias also appeared in 20 games with the Chicago Blackhawks to end the 1968-69 season. A fifth team would come but not until the start of the 1970-71 season. Andre moved to the expansion Vancouver Canucks and the bulk of his career was spent with that club, playing with them until the end of the 1975-76 campaign.
