Oh my, there’s an ERROR on the back of this Al MacAdam 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee hockey card! In 1975-76, the franchise Al was MVP for was still the California Seals and had yet to relocate to Cleveland.

However, MacAdam did have a great year with the Seals in 1975-76, leading the team with 32 goals and 63 points, nearly identical numbers as teammate Dennis Maruk. At the time, it was a career best for Al. He would eclipse those numbers in 1979-80 with the Minnesota North Stars scoring a career high 42 goals along with 93 points.

In a home game against the Colorado Rockies on February 3, 1980, MacAdam was in on all but one of Minnesota’s goals in a 6-2 win. Playing alongside Steve Payne and Bobby Smith, Al had a pair of goals and three assists for five points. The trio combined for 13 points and were responsible for 17 of the 37 shots put on Colorado goalie Michel Plasse.

In the post season, MacAdam had game winning goals that eliminated both the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round and the Montreal Canadiens in the second. Against the Leafs, it was an a marker just 32 seconds into overtime that completed the sweep. Versus the Habs in game 7, Al’s goal with 1:26 left in regulation time sealed the deal in the 3-2 win for the North Stars.

Between 1973-74 and 1984-85, Al MacAdam played 864 regular season and 64 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers, California Golden Seals, Cleveland Barons, Minnesota North Stars and Vancouver Canucks. Originally a fourth round pick by the Flyers at the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft, MacAdam played a single game for the Flyers in the 1973-74 Stanley Cup run.
