Card Notes

Broke in with Canadiens, traded to Rangers in ’61 for John Hanna. Picked up as a goal-getter after switch to New York. He’s outstanding as skater for a big man.

En Français

A débuté avec les Canadiens il fut échangé aux Rangers en 1961 pour John Hanna. Il a commencé à compter des buts dès son transfert à N.Y. C’est merveilleux de le voir évoluer pour un colosse comme A 1.

Details

True, Junior Langlois was traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the New York Rangers on June 13, 1961 for John Hanna. However, this blue liner that scored 21 goals over 497 career games was certainly not brought to Manhattan to score goals. As for Hanna, he would play just six games with the Habs and not until the 1963-64 NHL season.

Langlois would not make it through the 1963-64 season with New York. On February 14, 1964, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings for Ron Ingram. Al arrived just in Motown in time to help the Wings reach the Stanley Cup final before losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ron Ingram would play 19 games between 1963-64 and 1964-65 with the Rangers, the final games of his NHL career.

Between 1957-58 and 1965-66, Al Langlois played 497 regular season and 53 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens, Rangers, Red Wings and Boston Bruins. Over his 53 career playoff games, Langlois scored just a single goal. On April 4, 1965, he scored the first goal of the game for Detroit in a 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in the semi-final. That marker, scored on Denis DeJordy, was assisted by Paul Henderson and Eddie Joyal.
