Dallas is considered to be one of the most underrated players in the NHL, since his partner on defense is the fabulous Bobby Orr. He’s a solid puck-carrier and relies mostly on fundamental hockey.

Dallas Smith was fresh off a career high eight goals in 1971-72 with the Boston Bruins. Of the eight, the first was a shorthanded marker in an October 20, 1971 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Boston Garden. With Derek Sanderson in the box for tripping in the first period, Smith scored on Detroit goalie Al Smith, assisted by Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito.
His fourth of the 1971-72 NHL season was a game winner. On December 8, 1971 at the Forum in Los Angeles, Dallas scored 5:55 of the third, Boston’s fourth goal in a 5-3 win. Smith scored on L.A. goalie Rogie Vachon with help from Phil Esposito and John McKenzie.
Over his career, Smith scored 55 goals over 890 regular season games in the NHL. He added just three in 86 playoff games. One of the three was a the game winner in game 1 of the 1976 semi-final series against the Philadelphia Flyers. It was the only game Boston won in the set.
Between 1959-60 and 1977-78, Dallas Smith played 890 regular season and 86 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. He was a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Bruins. His time in New York was limited to 29 games in his final season.
