Details

Mickey Redmond did stick with the Montreal Canadiens in 1968-69 and by 1969-70 was a 27 goal scorer with the team. However, on January 13, 1971, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, along with Guy Charron and Bill Collins for Frank Mahovlich.

In his first five NHL games, played with the Habs in 1967-68, Redmond did not register a point and had just four shots on net. However, in his fifth game, Mickey found the net. In a December 3, 1967 game against the Bruins at Boston Garden, Redmond doubled his shot total with four and scored his first two NHL goals.

He opened the scoring at 2:55 of the first period, putting his first career goal past Boston goalie Ed Johnston, assisted by Jacques Lemaire and Danny Grant. Redmond scored his second in the second period, assisted by Grant. He then assisted on Montreal’s third goal of the game, scored by Lemaire late in the third. Unfortunately for the Habs, those were the only three goals they scored in a 5-3 loss.

Between 1967-68 and 1975-76, Mickey Redmond played 538 regular season and 16 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. The two-time Stanley Cup champion with Montreal became the first to score 50 for the Red Wings. Mickey scored 52 in 1972-73 and 51 in 1973-74.
