Details

In 1972-73, Bill Goldsworthy’s goal total would drop below the 30 mark, scoring 27 for the Minnesota North Stars. However, the following year, he exploded for 48 goals, good for fifth in the NHL, 20 behind 1973-74 leader Phil Esposito. That 48 goal season was a North Stars record until Dino Ciccarelli scored 55 in 1981-82. It remains the fifth most in Minnesota North Stars / Dallas Stars franchise history.

Goldsworthy’s four game came on March 21, 1971 in a game against the Vancouver Canucks at Pacific Coliseum. It came just four days after Bill’s hat trick against the Los Angeles Kings. In the 6-3 win over the Canucks, he scored two even strength, one shorthanded and one power play goal. His third goal of the game, his 33rd of the season scored on Dunc Wilson, served as the game winner.

In his seventh NHL game, back in 1965-66 with the Boston Bruins, Goldsworthy showed signs that he would become a sharp-shooter in the league. In a 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, Bill scored his first two NHL goals. The two were scored within a 21 second span in the first period to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead after Gordie Howe started the scoring. Both were scored on Roger Crozier.

Between 1964-65 and 1977-78, Bill Goldsworthy played 771 regular season and 40 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, Minnesota North Stars and New York Rangers. He also played 49 regular season and four playoff games in the WHA with the Edmonton Oilers.
