Starting his fourth season in the NHL, Doug is fast becoming one of the league’s top defensemen. Has better than average shot from the point but concentrates on the defensive aspects of the game. He is especially good at two-on-one situations in breaking up opposing rushes.

Doug Jarrett was coming off a decent 1966-67 NHL season that saw him get some consideration for the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman. He had a handful of votes and finished seventh, a great distance behind winner Harry Howell of the New York Rangers.
Jarrett excelled in the 1967-68 Stanley Cup playoffs, scoring four of his seven career post season goals. He had a pair in game three semi-final game against the Montreal Canadiens. They would be the only two goals Chicago would get past Gump Worsley in a 4-2 loss to the Habs, putting the Blackhawks down 3-0 in the series.
His best season offensively in the NHL came in 1971-72 when Doug scored six and assisted on 23 for 29 points. He had a pair of goals in a game against the Vancouver Canucks on February 4, 1972. His first of the game and 4th of the season was scored at 9:04 of the second on Canucks goalie Dunc Wilson, assisted by Pit Martin to make the score 3-1 Chicago. The Hawks would go on to win the game 6-2.
Between 1964-65 and 1976-77, Doug Jarrett played 775 regular season and 99 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers. His time in New York was limited to 54 games over his final two seasons in the NHL.
