Details
1973-74 was a career year for Wayne Cashman. His 30 goals, 59 assists and 89 points were all personal bests over his time in the NHL. He was indeed selected as a Second Team All-Star, the only time during his career.
1981-82, however, was the beginning of the end for Cashman. He scored just 12 goals over 64 games. He would score four in 65 games during the 1982-83 campaign, his last in the National Hockey League.
Wayne came up through the Boston Bruins system, playing his junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals. He teammed up with Bobby Orr in 1965-66 to help the Gens capture the OHA Junior A title before losing a tight series to the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Memorial Cup final.
The following year, he was part of a star-studded Oklahoma City Blazers team that captured the CPHL title. The Blazers were bolstered by a trio of unstoppable goalies that included Bernie Parent, Gerry Cheevers and Doug Favell.
Between 1964-65 and 1982-83, Wayne Cashman appeared in 1,027 regular season and 145 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Boston Bruins. He helped the club to a pair of Stanley Cup championships in 1969-70 and 1971-72.
