A bit of an ERROR on the back of this 1965-66 Topps Terry Sawchuk hockey card. It states that he starred with the Red Wings for 14 years but, in fact, it was 12. For two of those 14 years, 1955-56 and 1956-57, he had a brief stint with the Boston Bruins.
In his early days with Detroit, Sawchuk led the Wings to three Stanley Cup championships, the last in 1954-55. Twelve years later, he would win a fourth. In 1966-67, he again shared duties with Johnny Bower, leading the Maple Leafs to their last Stanley Cup title.
Between 1949-50 and 1969-70, Terry Sawchuk played 971 regular season and 106 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1971.
