1978-79 O-Pee-Chee NHL Checklist
Card Notes
Ron joined the Rangers last season equipped with a strong and deceivingly fast shot which can surprise opposing goaltenders. A speedy skater, he has choppy style of skating whereby his feet do not come far off the ice.
En Français
Ron se joignit aux Rangers la saison dernière et l’on constata vite que son lancer trompeusement rapide pouvait surprendre les gardiens. Quand il patine, ses pieds s’éloignent très peu de la glace, mais il est très rapide.
Details
Before his exceptional 20 goal rookie season with the New York Rangers in 1977-78, Ron Duguay was an outstanding offensive threat in the OMJHL with the Sudbury Wolves. He played four seasons with his hometown Wolves, putting up 134 points in 1975-76 and 109 in 1976-77. This made it a no-brainer for the Rangers to select him 13th overall at the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft.
Ron Duguay played 860 regular season and 89 Stanley Cup playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1977-78 and 1988-89 with the Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings. He was a 40 goal scorer with New York in 1981-82 and topped out offensively with 89 points as a member of the Red Wings in 1984-85.
