Details
Rick MacLeish would not take the long road to fulfil the prophecy on the back of this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee hockey card. In 1972-73, he would immediately achieve stardom. After scoring a total of 3 goals over his first two NHL seasons, MacLeish would become a 50 goal scorer in 1972-73.
MacLeish achieved symmetry with 50 goals and 50 assists for 100 points. He became the first in Philadelphia Flyers franchise history to reach the 50 goal plateau. Rick was one of three 50 goal scorers in 1972-73 with Phil Esposito of the Boston Bruins leading with 55 and Mickey Redmond of the Detroit Red Wings coming in second with 52.
Between 1970-71 and 1983-84, MacLeish played 846 regular season and 114 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Flyers, Hartford Whalers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He would never reach the 50 goal plateau again over his career but would top 30 goals seven times.
