Card Notes
Rene became the 3rd player in Sabres’ history to score over 200 goals for the club.
The Details
His 222 goals in 524 regular season games with the Buffalo Sabres still today place Rene Robert ninth in team history. He is sixth with 552 points and fifth with 330 assists.
Robert would remain with the Rockies for just a season and a half before a trade sent him to the Toronto Maple Leafs midway through the 1980-81 season. The guy from Trois Rivieres, Quebec with a knack for goal scoring had started his NHL career with the Buds in 1970-71, appearing in just five games with the club.
His career fizzled out in Toronto after playing his final 55 National Hockey League games during the 1981-82 season. He does have the distinction of being traded straight up for Eddie Shack during the 1971-72 season in an exchanged between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres.
