At the time of this 1965-66 Topps hockey card, Phil Goyette’s highest goal total came during the 1963-64 season when he scored 24 goals in his first year with the New York Rangers. Prior to that, he had a 21 goal season with the Montreal Canadiens in 1959-60.
After this hockey card was distributed, Goyette was able to better his career best. In 1967-68, he scored 25 goal with the Rangers. He would go even higher in 1969-70, scoring 29 goals in his only season with the St. Louis Blues.
Phil Goyette played 941 regular season and 94 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1956-57 and 1971-72 with the Canadiens, Rangers, Blues and Buffalo Sabres. He was a four time Stanley Cup champion with the Habs while also going to the final with the Blues in 1969-70 and the Rangers in 1971-72.
