Details
Norm Ullman would not reach that 500 career goal plateau. He added 31 more goals over the 1973-74 and 1974-75 NHL seasons but that left him with 490. Ullman then moved to the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association for his final two years of pro hockey. With the Oilers, Norm scored 47 goals over the two campaigns, not bad for a guy in his 40’s.
Ullman finished his NHL career with 1,410 regular season games played. That number still ranks him 37th all-time, just a single game behind Harry Howell. Along with his 490 goals over that time, he added 739 assists for 1,229 points. That point total places him 44th all-time, ten ahead of Jean Beliveau and just three behind Phil Housley.
The trade referred to on the back of this 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee hockey card happened on March 3, 1968. Going to Toronto with Norm were Doug Barrie, Paul Henderson and Floyd Smith. Going to Detroit were Carl Brewer, Frank Mahovlich, Pete Stemkowski and Garry Unger.
Between 1955-56 and 1974-75, Norm Ullman played in 1,410 regular season and 106 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Red Wings and Maple Leafs. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.
