Only 6 goals away from the 300 mark, Norm stands tenth in all-time goal scorers. Was named to all-star team this year for the 2nd time in his 12 year career. When you speak of Detroit’s “strength down the centre” you are speaking of Norm Ullman.

For Norm Ullman, NHL goal number 300 was scored on November 12, 1967 at Detroit Olympia against the Montreal Canadiens. He scored the milestone goal at 16:24 of the second period on Rogie Vachon, assisted by Bruce MacGregor and Doug Roberts. The Red Wings won the game 3-1.

Not long after that 300th goal, Ullman’s time in Detroit was up. On March 3, 1968, he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs with Doug Barrie, Paul Henderson and Floyd Smith for Carl Brewer, Frank Mahovlich, Pete Stemkowski and Garry Unger.

In 1964-65, Ullman scored 42 goals for the Detroit Red Wings. This total gave him a three goal edge over Bobby Hull for the league lead. Of course, there was no award for the accomplishment with the Rocket Richard Trophy not appearing until the 1998-99 season.

Norm Ullman played 1,410 regular season games in the NHL between 1955-56 and 1974-75 with the Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.
