Rapidly becoming one of the NHL’s finest playmakers, Ken displays superior skating speed and ability on the ice. He had league-leading 18 assists in the 1979-80 playoffs.

Ken Linseman’s 18 assists for the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1979-80 playoffs was one more than runner-up Bryan Trottier of the New York Islanders while playing four less games. In overall scoring, Trottier led the way with 29 points with teammate Mike Bossy finishing second with 23. Linseman came in third with 22.

In that 1979-80 post season, Ken scored the game winning and series clinching goal at 3:56 of the second overtime in game three of Philadelphia’s preliminary round against the Edmonton Oilers. At 7:03 of the third, he assisted on the game tying goal by Brian Propp.

After playing 1977-78 with the Birmingham Bulls in the WHA, Ken was the seventh overall pick at the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft by the Flyers. He had played his junior hockey with the Kingston Canadians.

1981-82 would turn out to be a career year for Linseman. He scored 24 and assisted on 68 for 92 points while also sitting 275 minutes in penalties. He led Philadelphia in overall scoring and finished eight in the NHL for assists, a distant 52 behind leader Wayne Gretzky. His PIM total placed him seventh, just three ahead of Dale Hunter.

Between 1978-79 and 1991-92, Ken Linseman played 860 regular season and 113 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs. He won a Stanley Cup with the Oilers in 1983-84.
