Card Notes
A big strong player, Kenny led the OHA Junior A in goals and assists – 1964-65 season. Rated as a strong contender for Rookie of the Year last season, he never reached his potential. This year as a sophomore the Hawks are counting on his youth and experience.
Details
Indeed, Ken Hodge led the OHA Junior A (OHL) in scoring during the 1964-65 season, earning the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy. With the St. Catherines Black Hawks, Hodge scored 63 goals and assisted on 60 for 123 points in 55 games. This, despite the fact his team finished two points out of last place. Just four points behind Hodge was Andre Lacroix of the Peterborough Petes.
Hodge did not win the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 1965-66. That honour went to Brit Selby of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ken never really found the scoring touch with Chicago but certainly did after being traded to the Boston Bruins for the 1967-68 season. He was a 45 goal scorer in his second season with Boston and reached the 50 goal plateau in 1973-74.
