“Whitey” came to Canada from his native Finland to learn hockey, professional style, and he learned quite well. Led Los Angeles in scoring last season. Good size and playmaking ability make him a good bet for stardom. Started in the New York organization.

After just four goals and 14 points over 48 games in his rookie 1969-70 NHL season, split between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings, Juha Widing indeed led the Kings in scoring in 1970-71. His 65 points were two ahead of runner-up Bob Berry. Widing, Berry and Ross Lonsberry all finished with 25 goals, two behind team leader Mike Byers.
Juha led again in 1971-72 with just 55 points on a Kings team that averaged just over 2.5 goals per game and finished just a point ahead of the Vancouver Canucks for last place in the NHL. He was the leader the following year, as well, with 70 points before being dethroned in 1973-74 by Butch Goring.
Between 1969-70 and 1976-77, Juha Widing played 574 regular season and eight playoff games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Cleveland Barons. He finished up his career in the WHA, playing 71 regular season and five playoff games with the Edmonton Oilers in 1977-78.
