1958-59 was the first season with the Chicago Blackhawks after coming over from the New York Rangers. The steady, stay-at-home defenseman would remain with the club until the end of the 1962-63 season before embarking on a lengthy minor league career.
Never returning to the NHL, Jack embraced the California lifestyle. In the WHL, he played for the Los Angeles Blades, California Seals and San Diego Gulls between 1964-65 and 1971-72 with a year in between with the WHL Vancouver Canucks.
Evans went on to coaching career in the National Hockey League that spanned from 1975-76 to 1987-88. He spent time behind the bench with the California Golden Seals, Cleveland Barons and Hartford Whalers.
Between 1948-49 and 1962-63, Jack played 753 regular season and 56 playoff games in the NHL with the Rangers and Blackhawks. He helped the Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup championship in 1960-61.
