Card Notes
Once Inge got adjusted to the NHL style of play, he became one of Toronto’s most dependable forwards. He had a fine rookie season despite missing 12 games. Most of his hockey training has been in Europe, and the Leafs spotted Inge and several other prospects during a scouting mission on the continent. With a year’s experience under his belt, he could be a top performer this season.
Hammarstrom upped his goal total to 21 in 1974-75, playing in three more games than in his rookie season with Toronto. Inge would have a career best of 24 goals in 1976-77. He came to the Leafs from Sweden, along with Borje Salming.
In all, Hammarstrom played in 427 National Hockey League games between 1973-74 and 1978-79 with the Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues. He was traded from Toronto to St. Louis three games into the 1977-78 NHL season, in exchange for Jerry Butler.
