Details
1971-72 would turn out to be a pretty uneventful season for the Pocket Rocket. He equaled the 12 goals he scored in 1970-71 and totaled 44 points. Richard was the only member of the Montreal Canadiens to appear in all 78 regular season games. He appeared in all six post season games for the Habs as they were dropped by the New York Rangers in the first round.
Although not the goal scorer that his brother Maurice Richard was, Henri still had nine seasons in the NHL when he topped the 20 goal plateau. His best season came in 1959-60 when he scored 30 goals. Previous to that, he had an 80 point season in 1957-58.
Between 1955-56 and 1974-75, Henri Richard appeared in 1,258 regular season and 180 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Montreal Canadiens. He served as team captain from 1970-71 to 1974-75, replacing Jean Beliveau and being replaced by Yvan Cournoyer. Richard was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
