Details
Gil Perreault led the Sabres in 1975-76 with 69 assists and 113 points. Danny Gare was the team leader in goals with 50. He was third in the race for the Art Ross Trophy, 12 points behind leader Guy Lafleur and six behind Bobby Clarke. His 69 assists placed him in a three way tie for third in the NHL with Jean Ratelle and Lafleur.
Despite his Hockey Hall of Fame career, the two trophies mentioned would be the only individual awards he would receive in the NHL. He took home the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year in 1970-71 after the first overall pick led the expansion Sabres in scoring. His Lady Byng win came in 1972-73 when he accumulated just ten minutes in penalties while contributing 88 points. He was a Second Team All-Star twice.
Between 1970-71 and 1986-87, Gilbert Perreault played 1,191 regular season and 90 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Buffalo Sabres. In 1990, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and had his number 11 retired by the Sabres. He is the only player to ever wear that number in franchise history.
