Card Notes
This 1954-55 Topps 30 hockey card featuring Frank Martin of the Chicago Blackhawks contains a major uncorrected error. Martin played only 41 games with the Hershey Bears in the AHL and that was in 1952-53.
At the bottom of the card, it says his three goals and 17 assists over 68 games is with Hershey. In fact, those stats are from a full 1953-54 season with the Boston Bruins.
This was the last of two cards to feature Martin. His rookie card was included in the 1953-54 Parkhurst set.
About Frank Martin
Frank Martin played a total of 282 regular season games in the National Hockey League between 1952-53 and 1957-58 with the Bruins and Blackhawks. Over that time, the blueliner scored eleven and assisted on 46. He appeared in ten Stanley Cup playoff games, all with Boston.
After appearing in just three games with Chicago in 1957-58, Frank embarked on a ‘second career’ in the AHL. He played in that league until 1964-65 with the Buffalo Bisons, Quebec Aces and Cleveland Barons. He was second team all-star in 1958-59 with the Bisons.
