Details
Dick Duff came to the New York Rangers via a February 22, 1964 trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Going with Duff to the Big Apple were Arnie Brown, Bill Collins, Bob Nevin and Rod Seiling. Going in the other direction were Andy Bathgate and Don McKenney.
Dick’s time with the Blue Shirts was short. He played 14 games with the club in 1963-64 and just 29 in 1964-65 before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens on December 21, 1964 for Bill Hicke.
Duff did not get 22 goals in 1964-65, scoring three with the Rangers and nine with the Canadiens for a total of 12. However, he did surpass the 200 goal mark during his National Hockey League career with a final total of 283.
Dick Duff played 1,030 regular season and 114 playoff games in the NHL between 1954-55 and 1971-72 with the Maple Leafs, Rangers, Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabres. He was a member of six Stanley Cup championship teams, two with Toronto and four with Montreal. Duff was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006.
